9:00Now PlayingE-commerce boomed during 2020, the year now made infamous by the coronavirus pandemic.
COVID-19 forced people to hunker down in their homes, and many, whether out of necessity or desire, took to the internet to buy items when they couldn’t go to stores.
While e-commerce flourished, brick and mortar businesses suffered, along with Black-owned businesses, which saw 40% of their commerce wiped out.
When Alquincia Selolwane took stock of how the pandemic hit entrepreneurs in her community, she used that newfound consumer enthusiasm for digital commerce. She used her e-commerce experience to launch the first-ever Black Virtual Mall designed to help other Black businesses get on the map.
Selolwane joins Aisha Mills on “AMplified” to discuss her venture.
All this and more on “AMplified.”
