5:55Now PlayingTexas passed a law restricting what books teachers can use in classrooms.
It was a move that essentially ties the hands of educators looking to teach lessons on race and history. but a group of parents organized an effort to push back and it worked.
They call themselves the Round Rock Black Parents Association. The group started a petition that reeled in thousands of signatures to keep a book on antiracism on their kids' reading list.
Keyanna Pitts, one of the women spearheading the effort, joins Laverne McGee on “BNC Live” to discuss.
All this and more on “BNC Live.”
