10:25Now PlayingLawmakers in Vermont are preparing for a post-Roe v. Wade America voting to move forward on a constitutional amendment known as Proposal 5.
It will protect various forms of reproductive rights in the state, including abortion. It will go before voters in the November election and if passed, it will make Vermont the first state to explicitly protect reproductive freedom in its Constitution.
Vermont residents would still have access to abortions because of a separate law passed in 2019 that guarantees that right.
Lucy Lerich, vice president of public affairs for the Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund, joins Aisha Mills on “AMplified” to discuss how Prop 5 would expand reproductive protections.
All this and more on “AMplified.”
