I’m back with hosts Andre and Christian of the “Real Talk University.” I was recently a guest on their podcast. Today we discussed the importance of failure and learning as you go.

Obviously, traders don’t reach professional status overnight. There are tons of things you have to experience firsthand. Most stock traders find a niche. I didn't know that I was gonna be in penny stocks. I don't know why the heck I ended up here. But I did well, so here I am.

At first, I tried investing, and my account really just wasn't growing. So I gravitated toward lower-priced stocks. Stocks that were moving in the volatility. That can be dangerous, but it's all about controlling the losses and managing the risks.

You know my number one rule: cut losses quickly. I’m not gonna lie and say I never lose. I’m not afraid to show you all my losses. Anyone can see my trading track record — I publicly share every single trade.

As for finding your niche ...

You have to be true to who you are, what you're good at, and what you're bad at. I've tried other niches, but this is what I’m good at. I've been in it for 20 years now, so I have a lot of experience.

Be brutally honest with yourself, as well as introspective. Find where you excel and what doesn’t work for you. Get to know yourself and understand your personality.

There’s a HUGE learning curve in the beginning. But it gets easier! Most people just don't stick it out. Those quitters want money and success right away, but it doesn't work like that.

This is a game of discipline. Things that have the power to change your life take time and practice. But you have to make a choice. You can be broke and lazy, or you can stop procrastinating and work to make that change. It’s up to you.
