In this video, I’m guiding some of my students through how to look at SEC filings for penny stocks. You’re looking for different things than you would with higher priced stocks.
Why? Because when it comes to penny stocks, you’ve gotta remember:
MOST. OF. THESE. COMPANIES. WILL. FAIL.
This requires a different approach than stocks offered by “legit” companies. The rules are different.
Most of these companies are not going to survive.
Most of them are going to go bankrupt.
Very few of them are ever going to turn into anything real.
I’m realistic about it. I expect the worst and I’m never disappointed.
VERY rarely will you ever see me hold one of these plays overnight if the company doesn’t have a lot of cash on their books. That’s screwed people over plenty of times in the past.
In this recording, I talk about what to look for in SEC filings with lower priced stocks.
I want to know:
What are their assets?
Why did they do a financing anyway?
What are they burning? I look at the cash and cash equivalents.
I’m not looking at inventory. I’m not looking at their future prospects. I’m not thinking about how they could be the next big thing.
Remember: these companies can be opportunists when it comes to financing. Don’t believe the hype.
We talk about where to look for the information you need, and how to back it up on sources like Twitter.
ALWAYS do your own research! You can’t trust these companies.
Some of these companies are taking advantage of the catalyst even if they are going bankrupt. If you expect the worst out of these companies you won’t be disappointed.
Remember…
You don’t know if they’re going to do the financing...
You don’t know when...
You don’t know what the price points will be...
You don’t know if the market will love it or hate it.
Instead of buying into unfounded hype, do your research and take advantage of these opportunities. Resist the tricks, put these bottom feeders into a house of their own doing, and then BURN it!
