Rich Upper East Side Woman Arrested for DWI After Having Dinner in Rumson

Around 11:22 PM on July 2, 2026, Patrolman Matthew Golembieski with the Monmouth Beach Police Department observed black 2025 Volvo XC90 swerving across lanes and swerving into the shoulder while being driven southbound on Ocean Avenue. He eventually activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over on Ocean Avenue south of Vista Court. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was eventually identified as Eileen Braha.

Eileen told the officer that she and her husband were coming from dinner in Rumson. As he was speaking with Eileen, Patrolman Golembieski detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Eileen was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

Her poor performance on the field sobriety exercises confirmed his suspicions of impairment, so Eileen was placed under arrest for operating under the influence. Her vehicle was towed for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John's Law and Eileen was transported to the Monmouth Beach Police Department for further processing.

At the station, the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.067%. She was eventually released to her husband Teddy Braha after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Eileen's behalf.

Patrolman Golembieski issued Eileen the following citations:

-Operating under the influence (39:-50)

-Reckless driving (39:4-96)

-Careless driving (39:4-97)

-Traffic on marked lanes (39:4-88B)

Public records indicate that Eileen resides in a co-op building with a doorman in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and she is a registered Democrat. As of August 23, 2026, Eileen's DWI case remains pending before the Monmouth Beach Municipal Court.
