29:34Now PlayingAround 10:14 PM on May 3, 2026, Officer Nicholas Simons with the Villa Park Police Department observed a 2011 Acura MDX speeding around 65 MPH in a 45 MPH zone and swerving across lanes while headed westbound on North Avenue in the vicinity of N Lincoln Avenue. He continued following the vehicle as the driver approached N Main Street in neighboring Lombard. He eventually activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over on N Main Street just north of E Lemoyne Street in Lombard.
He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Victoria Gaul. Victoria initially claimed that she was heading home from Ella’s Italian Pub in Elmhurst. She later admitted that she stopped by the 151 Kitchen bar after leaving Ella’s before heading home. As he was speaking with her, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Victoria admitted to consuming alcohol at both restaurants earlier that evening. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Officer Simons decided to administer field sobriety exercises after Officer Rol Vel Rul arrived on scene to assist.
Her poor performance on the field sobriety exercises confirmed his suspicion of impairment. Following the field sobriety exercises, Victoria was offered an opportunity to submit to a PBT, and the results indicated a BAC level of 0.185%. Based on her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her admission to drinking earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Simons placed Victoria under arrest for driving under the influence.
Victoria was transported to the Villa Park Police Department for further processing. She agreed to submit breath samples at the station and Officer Franco administered the breath test. The results indicated a BAC level of 0.206%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After they finished processing her, Victoria was released pending her court appearance at the DuPage County Courthouse on June 10, 2026.
Victoria was issued the following citations:
-DUI - BAC .08 or more (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1))
-DUI - Alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2))
-Improper lane usage (625 ILCS 5/11-709(a))
-Speeding (625 ILCS 5/11-601(b))
Victoria has previously been arrested on allegations of assault on May 29, 2021 following an incident at Buffalo Wild Wings.
