Every week the internet churns out a new figure from the industrial sludge of tiktok, twitter, and instagram who goes viral for being annoying or strange. Daniel Larson went viral for dine and dashing Clavicular went viral for bonesmashing - now there’s Chud The Builder. He went viral for hundreds of clips where he antagonizes random people - receiving praise from those who see him as a free speech warrior, and hatred from others who call him a grifting bigot. As his notoriety grew, so did the repercussions to his personal life - from multiple platform bans and arrests, to confrontations with his enemies. It all culminated in Chud shooting someone who allegedley assaulted him, and a state charge for attempted murder. But Chud doesn’t exist in a vacuum. While you may have only hear of him in the past few months, he’s had a long history both on and offline. So today, I’ll examine past to see how we went from Chud's past as an avid stoner and hip-hop fan, to his present as an internet micro-celebrity facing serious jail time.
