13:20Now PlayingEthiopia is witnessing a miracle. Its economy is growing at a 10% rate year after year and it’s also experimenting a democratic transition. Since Abiy Ahmed Ali took office, Ethiopia is shifting from a China-style communist system to a liberal democracy with free elections, freedom of speech and respect for ethic minorities.
Nevertheless, this revolution poses several threats. Many factions from the Ethiopian stablishment are rebelling against Abiy. On the other hand, some ethnic minorities are demanding more autonomy. With this situation, it is easy to imagine the Government feeling tempted to go back to the same-old authoritarianism Ethiopia used to have.
Is Ethiopia ready for democracy? Shall Abiy Ahmed resist to this authoritarian temptation? We will answer to all of these questions on this video.
