On 6 December 2020, legislative elections were held in Venezuela. Rather than elections, what was celebrated was a huge pantomime, a parody, a con, in short, a great swindle in which the ruling party, the PSUV, Nicolas Maduro's Party, reaped the absolute majority in the National Assembly, in the Venezuelan Parliament. However, in spite of all the signs of fraud, some political leaders such as José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero continue to endorse the supposed Bolivarian democracy.
This has made us wonder: How does "Bolivarian democracy" really work? Can we really refer to Venezuela as a democracy? How does Nicolas Maduro's government manage to stay in power? In this video we tell you all the details.
