Pedro Castillo, candidate of Peru Libre, a left-wing Marxist party, won in the second round of the 2021 presidential elections. During the campaign, this candidate raised the possibility of nationalizing companies, ending the funded pension model, penalizing imports and suspending free trade agreements, among many other issues.
