In little more than 10 days, the Republic of Afghanistan collapsed. After 20 years, thousands upon thousands of lives lost and a cost of more than US$2 trillion, no one in the United States could have imagined the outcome of the longest war in the history of the United States of America.

After a titanic effort, the Taliban regained power and the Americans faced a painful withdrawal characterized by chaos, haste and even ISIS jihadist attacks. In a past video, here on VisualPolitik, we looked at the key factors that explained the rapid fall of the Republic of Afghanistan to Taliban forces.

However, we left many questions unanswered.

For example, how on earth did the Taliban manage to resist the onslaught of the great American power? What are their links to international terrorism? And perhaps the most important question of all: What does the future hold for Afghanistan? What will the Taliban government look like? In this second video in the trilogy on the fall of Afghanistan, we answer all these questions.
