Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., said that she will vote to impeach President Donald Trump. Speaking on Dec. 11 during the Judiciary Committee’s markup of the articles of impeachment, Jayapal said ”I will vote to impeach Donald J. Trump, soberly, shouldering the responsibility that was given to me by my constituents and honoring my oath to protect the Constitution of the United States of America.” The markup comes after public impeachment hearings by both the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees. “Donald Trump abused the power of the office of the presidency to pursue his own personal, political gain,” Jayapal said. The impeachment case has revolved around a July 25 phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
