Sen. Bob Casey, D-Penn., said House managers had not only met, but exceeded, their duty of proof in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, and that he intended to vote to convict the president of abuse of power and obstruction. He said the memorandum of the July 25 call in which Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to “do us a favor,” as well as efforts made by his advisers to push for investigations into the Bidens, were not based on legitimate foreign policy concerns but the president's own self-interest. On Feb. 4, senators weighed in for the second day on how they will vote on whether to remove Trump from office. The speeches come one day before the Senate will decide whether to convict or acquit Trump on two articles of impeachment--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. After the Senate voted last week to bar new witness testimony and subpoenas for documents, Trump’s acquittal has seemed all but assured. The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December.
