Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., said he will vote to convict President Donald Trump on both impeachment charges. The Virginia senator also said he "frankly" understood some of the president's defense team's concerns over the second impeachment article on obstruction of Congress. "There are legitimate questions to consider about executive privilege and separation of powers," but added that "we cannot accept the absolute immunity arguments this White House has invented."
On Feb. 4, senators weighed in for a second day on how they will vote when it comes to remove Trump from office. The speeches come one day before the Senate decides whether to convict or acquit Trump on two articles of impeachment -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. After the Senate voted last week to bar new witness testimony and subpoenas for documents, Trump’s acquittal has seemed all but assured. The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December.
