24:42Now PlayingBBC reporter Peter Woods considers London's newest fleet of taxis, the 200 Renault Dauphines - better known as minicabs - that began operating in the city last week.
Do they provide fair competition to the established London cab? Or are their lower requirements for drivers an affront to the traditional London taxi drivers, who are required to spend months and even years painstakingly acquiring "the knowledge" before they can legally operate? Should minicab drivers be subject to the same tests and checks?
Mr Woods interviews the director of the minicab service, several taxicab drivers, and the chiefs of various rival car hire organisations about the new minicabs.
