Sep 8, 20201:53Now PlayingThe NFL Denver Broncos will allow a limited number of fans to attend their September 27 home football game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and team officials announced Tuesday that about 5,700 paying fans will be allowed to attend in "pods" of 175 people, sitting in isolated sections of Mile High stadium.
Polis said each group will have separate entrances, restrooms and concession stands, so that if there is a coronavirus outbreak in a group, contact tracing and notification will be possible.
"You have a series of 175 people in different groups and it's very much possible. The stadium's very large." Polis said. "It's a great approach."
At the Bronco's first home game of the season, fans will be limited to primarily family of team members.
"We are not back to normal and Power Field at Mile High will look and feel very different this year," Bronco's Vice President Brittany Bowlen said.
Polis credited efforts by the Broncos as well as by Colorado residents and businesses to slow the state's pandemic outbreak so that fans can attend the game _ and hopefully future ones.
The Broncos won't have any fans at their Monday night NFL season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
