At the beginning of next year, the Golden State California will be enforcing a new law for animal welfare. The law passed a few years ago required more space for breeding pigs, chickens and veal calves. Right now, only 4% of operations comply with these guidelines.

Could you live without bacon? Unfortunately, these laws will make bacon more expensive and harder to find in stores. Those who campaign for animal welfare have long been pushing for better living conditions for animals.

But this could have unforeseen consequences. Diners and restaurants have been struggling to stay afloat and balancing new guidelines thanks to the pandemic for over a year. If they lost a menu item as popular as bacon could be devastating.

No one supports cruel animal confinements, but is there a better solution available? Let us know in the comments below!
