Hip Hop BET Awards
The Hip Hop BET Awards occurred this last week and included performances by BIA, Lil Jon, Latto, Young Thug, Tobe and Fat Nwigwe, and many more. Nelly accepted the 2021 ‘I Am Hip Hop’ Award and he thanked his family, St. Louis, and reminding everyone that he made it to the top without a co-sign. Also, Tyler The Creator accepted the first ever Rock The Bells ‘Cultural Influence’ Award. In Tyler The Creator’s acceptance speech at the 2021 Hip Hop BET Awards, he shouted out fellow artists like Missy Elliot, LL Cool J, Wu Tang, Busta Rhymes, and many many others. He thanked these artists for laying out the blueprint for hip hop, opening all these doors, and passing the keys to the younger generations.

#InstagramIsDown was trending on Twitter last week. Instagram was down last week for about five hours along with Facebook, WhatsApp, and Oculus. They were all down because all of these social media and the headset are owned by Mark Zuckerberg. He apologized to everyone for the service disruption and acknowledged how many people rely on their services to stay connected to their loved ones. According to entrepreneur.com, Zuckerberg lost $7 billion after the Facebook outage, and due to the apps’ stocks values dropping. This cause Zuckerberg to fall from 5th to 6th on Forbes’ list of the world’s wealthiest people. This outage also hurt many businesses whose main source of income is social media. While others found peace with the social media platform down and some proposed a day when all social media is down for a day. They believe this would benefit everyone’s mental health and general wellbeing.
Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ May Be Eligible For Primetime Emmy
The Korean Netflix show ‘Squid Game’ now has the option to either enter The International Emmys or The Primetime Emmys due to the series being produced under the American streaming company Netflix. Netflix could also possibly make TV history as the first streaming platform to receive an Emmy.
