After facing many concerns, Facebook is pressing pause on Instagram For Kids. Both lawmakers and parents have concerns about a photosharing service for teens and the dangers of the virtual world. This app could lead to more social media use, which could lead to more negative effects on their mental health. A Wall Street Journal study reported that 13% of British teens and 6% of American teens desire to commit suicide was traced back to Instagram. Anxiety and depression were linked to Instagram after Facebook researchers found that 32% of teen girls felt bad about their bodies and Instagram only made them feel worse. Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerburg stands by and believes in Instagram for Kids and social media and believes they both have value. He believes Instagram for Kids can be used to better children’s ability to form connections.
