The other side says red dots don’t belong on pistols and are just a fad.
I think both sides are wrong.
Red dots are great. I run them. At distance, when you have a beat of time and need precision, a dot absolutely earns its money.
But pretending iron sights are useless is crazy.
Dots fail. Batteries die. Screws back out. Plates shift. Zeroing a pistol dot can be a pain, and not everybody puts in the reps to present the gun cleanly every time.
That’s why I don’t understand the “either-or” argument.
Co-witness exists.
Suppressor-height sights exist.
You can run a red dot and still have irons on the gun as a backup.
Up close, fast and dirty, I may be faster on irons. At distance, I want the dot. If the dot fails, I want irons. If I can have both, I’m running both.
Iron sights aren’t dead.
Red dots aren’t a fad.
The answer is simple:
