This self-defense case sounds like something out of a movie.
A man says his ex-wife allegedly offered a million dollars to have him killed. He reported it to police. He took it to the DA. He crossed state lines and reported it again. And after every door closed, the honest answer he finally got was simple:
Go buy a gun and learn how to use it.
Because until the threat actually shows up, the system usually can’t stop it.
Then one day, a strange SUV is backed into a cornfield near his home. Moments later, a masked man puts a gun to his wife’s head in their own driveway.
That’s when everything becomes real.
He gets the gun, the attacker moves the gun from his wife’s head to his, and he fires through both car windows — missing his wife’s head by just four inches.
And somehow, that still wasn’t the craziest part.
Because the person he says ordered the hit didn’t stay home waiting for a phone call.
She allegedly showed up in person.
To watch.
This case is a brutal reminder that the police are almost always there to write the report after something happens. The gun is the part of the equation that shows up on time.
It’s also a reminder that magazine limits are fantasy policy written by people who imagine self-defense as one bad guy, one shot, and it’s over.
That’s not reality.
This was multiple attackers, multiple engagements, a moving fight across a driveway, and a man forced to protect his wife from a paid ambush.
And even after surviving all of that, he still had to face the legal aftermath — a grand jury, the possibility of a double-murder case, and months of wondering whether saving his wife would cost him the rest of his life.
The gunfight is one fight.
The legal fight is the second one.
And you better be prepared for both.
