43:01Now PlayingFollowing the disappearance of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch from his Colorado home in January 2020, investigators utilized surveillance footage and forensic evidence to connect his stepmother, Letecia Stauch, to the case. Gannon’s remains were later recovered in Florida, leading to Letecia’s arrest and a subsequent trial where her defense of legal insanity was evaluated. In May 2023, a jury convicted her of first-degree murder, and she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. On April 2, 2026, the Colorado Court of Appeals ordered Stauch’s conviction to be overturned, and she was granted a new trial because of a juror who should not have been allowed to deliberate.
