Upon entering the residence, Hayes discovered a scene of violent disarray, including holes punched into the walls and his mother’s purse left scattered across the bed. “Basically, I knew something happened,” Hayes testified. Demorris Hunter—a serial killer already convicted of two separate murders in California—now faces trial in connection with the 2002 Florida cold case murder of Green.
