During sentencing, Judge Roger Griffin referred to Grist as "incredibly dangerous," and the architect of the murder plot against Matthew, recommending that Grist “never be considered for parole.” Matthew was shot to death at Grist’s home by Kevin Ellis after being lured there under the premise of picking up his children and his wife, Kathryn Restelli.
