Washington Today (3-11-24): President Biden releases his FY2025 federal budget proposal

President Joe Biden releases his $7.3 trillion FY2025 budget proposal, with increases in federal benefit programs, affordable housing, student debt cancellation and more, plus tax increases on wealthy individuals and corporations. He says the budget would reduce the budget deficit by $3 trillion over a decade.

We will hear from the President, OMB Director, Deputy Defense Secretary, Transportation Secretary and NASA Administrator, and Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX), Budget Committee chair, on the House Republican FY2025 Budget Resolution that was approved last week.

Former President Donald Trump, Republican Presidential candidate, is asked on CNBC about ways to reduce entitlement spending like Social Security and Medicare. According to some news reports, he floated the idea of cuts, but the Trump campaign says he was talking about cutting waste.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge is resigning after three years in that job.
