Kara Swisher on Lack of Diversity in Tech Leadership

David Rubenstein: "The technology leaders we've talked about so far that you've interviewed and you've known over the years are all men. Where are the women technology entrepreneurs? Leaders are there, and we just don't know about them as much as we should or. What happened there?"

Kara Swisher: "It's a billionaire boys club. I don't know what else to say. I mean, obviously only men are the only intelligent people on this planet. If you wanted to go, you know, it's ridiculous. And mostly white men, they're the best...It's really a problem. Let me. I'll say something that that Barry Diller told me about Hollywood one time. When you have homogeneity in any biological situation, it leads to bad outcomes in terms of, you know, everyone likes to insult diversity of a diversity in companies. Diversity in societies creates stronger, more lasting companies and it creates stronger, more lasting societies. And one thing Barry said is that Hollywood, which was he and I were talking about the real problems of Hollywood not accepting the digitization. And they just they just hunkered down rather than embraced digitization because they thought everyone was just going to go to the movie theater no matter what they did all the time. And one of the one of the things he said is, it's a miracle they're so inbred. It's a miracle their children have teeth. And I love that phrase. And I think about, look, if you have the same kind of people making the same decisions, you're going to get a very messed up outcome."
