0:49Now PlayingActing Attorney General Todd Blanche said Wednesday he wasn't worried about his nomination for attorney general after Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said she would oppose him.
"No, I'm not worried about what's going to happen over the next couple of days," he told reporters.
Mr. Blanche is currently one vote shy of winning enough support for confirmation after securing the backing of Sen. John Curtis (R-UT).
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), who's locked in a tight reelection battle, announced Tuesday she would oppose Mr. Blanche, saying she was concerned about the Justice Department becoming "increasingly political."
"Mr. Blanche has taken several actions that have further eroded the Department's independence, and that is the basis for my vote to oppose his confirmation," she said in a statement.
Mr. Blanche can afford to lose just two Republican votes given Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) extended absence.
Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) remain undecided.
