as posted by the channelDefense Secretary Pete Hegseth told senators Tuesday the U.S. controls the Strait of Hormuz and that its effective closure was hurting Iran more than the U.S.
“Ultimately, we control the strait, because nothing’s going in that we don’t allow to go in,” he told a Senate Appropriations subcommittee.
He said the U.S. naval blockade is preventing Iran from moving anything in or out of its ports and has resulted in 65 ships being turned around.
“The economic pressure that creates on them greatly outstrips the economic pressure on us,” he said.
