The Pentagon first reported that 18 American service members had been killed in the Iran war. One day later, the official casualty count dropped to 14—after four soldiers killed in Jordan and Iraq were removed from the public list.
According to military officials cited by The New York Times, the four deaths were excluded because they occurred after Donald Trump declared a ceasefire. The Pentagon has disputed that account, blaming “temporary data disruptions” and “site anomalies.” But the four names remain missing from the official casualty tally.
