The original "History of the Rapture" video I referenced
Can you be a Christian and reject the Rapture? In this second episode of our Rapture series, I explain what I personally believe about Jesus, the resurrection, the return of Christ, and the detailed end-times systems often called Rapture theology.
I believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead. I believe in the resurrection of the dead, and I believe it will happen when Christ returns.
But I do not believe that any particular system can accurately chart out the end times from a collection of biblical passages that were not written for that purpose.
This is not yet the detailed examination of the Rapture passages themselves—that comes in the next video. Instead, this episode is a personal profession of faith and an explanation of why I approach end-times theology with humility and caution.
We will also consider how dispensational theology and Christian nationalism have been used to support MAGA politics, why certainty can be politically powerful, and how teachers such as John Hagee have connected prophetic theology to contemporary political movements.
As a retired evangelical pastor, I am trying to distinguish foundational Christian beliefs from speculative systems—and to ask whether following Jesus requires belief in the Rapture.
