as posted by the channel*SPECIAL HIGHLIGHT:* This is a curated segment from our most recent TACO Tuesday livestream
*Pete Hegseth* says our soldiers in Persian Gulf aren't starving. But USA Today has the photographs. Donald Trump called soldiers "suckers and losers" — and the dog food they're being served is what that contempt looks like in practice.
*In September 2024, Donald Trump turned Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery — where service members killed in Afghanistan are buried — into a campaign photo op. A female cemetery employee tried to stop him. She was shoved aside. She declined to press charges, she later said, for fear of what Trump's supporters would do to her.*
‣Trump smiled. Thumbs up. Thumbs up! Standing next to the families of the dead.
‣This is the man who called John McCain a loser for getting captured.
‣The man who told a grieving widow her husband "knew what he signed up for."
‣The man who told his staff he didn't want to be photographed with wounded veterans because it was "a bad look."
‣The man who stood beside General John Kelly at the grave of Kelly's son — a Marine killed in Afghanistan — and said, "I don't get it. What was in it for them?"
‣This is also the man who got six medical deferments to avoid Vietnam.
‣ Whose three sons never served a day.
‣ But whose family business now manufactures military drones.
‣And while Trump postures about "rebuilding the military," USA Today reports that Marines and sailors deployed to the Persian Gulf are running out of food.
‣The photographs are public.
‣ Care packages from home aren't getting through.
*Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth* — a Christian nationalist with a documented history of public lying about everything from his treatment of women to his drinking — denies any of it is happening. But USA Today has the photos. All Hegseth has are the talking points.
There is an old principle in military strategy: if you can't feed your soldiers, you're not going to win.
*In this highlight:*
