--------
Joey Merlino described the tragic incident in 1993 where he survived a drive-by shooting and lost his best friend. Merlino recalled that he was walking along the street with his friend Michael when they were suddenly shot at. Merlino was hit twice and described in graphic detail holding Michael in his arms as he waited for an ambulance to arrive. Tragically, Michael ended up dying while being transported to the hospital. Rumors had pinned the shooting on two gunmen hired by the Stanford family, but Merlino could not confirm this and no one was convicted for the crime.
