The first wrongful death lawsuit against AI - for abetting, rather than preventing, the suicide of a teen, was filed in August 2025. We're only learning now how AI is implicated in worse activity: inducing prolonged, paranoid, delusional states in adults who had no previous history of mental health issues. Some individuals required psychiatric hospitalizations, and several situations resulted in death.
Meanwhile, the chatbot companies and the federal government are successfully blocking any restrictions whatsoever on AI. Even though they admit that they don't understand how AI programs decide what to write or say.
