1:09Now PlayingThe Israeli mission to the United Nations in New York installed and maintained a security system for years at Jeffrey Epstein's apartment building in Manhattan. A report by myself and Ryan Grim for Drop Site news into emails released by the Department of Justice into the Epstein investigation show that Epstein's staff maintained regular correspondence and met with Israeli officials at the mission.
Israeli officials at the local consulate also controlled access to the apartment and Epstein personally approved their installation of security infrastructure at the residence—including sensors placed on windows and other permanent equipment installed meant to monitor who came in and out.
The security came in the context of for frequent stays at the apartment by former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, who was a close friend and associate of Epstein, and would often stay at the apartment with his wife. The apartment was controlled by Epstein and had also been notorious as a place that Epstein used to keep young women as part of his sex trafficking operation.
Epstein and the former Israeli prime minister used New York as a base to conduct backchannel diplomacy with foreign leaders, and help promote the interests of surveillance technology firms tied to the Israeli intelligence establishment. The consulate did not respond to request for comment for this story.
