as posted by the channelAMMON - Crews set a 75-year-old home on fire Tuesday and watched it burn to the ground as part of a training exercise.
The structure, located at 2725 East Sunnyside Road, was built in the 1940's and has been in Paul Ricks family since the beginning.
"My father built the home and farmed land from where Kohls currently sits all the way north to Target," said Ricks, who grew up in the house.
Ricks has rented out the property for years but said it's recently become an "eyesore." He donated the home to the Ammon Fire Department and over the last weeks, firefighters have been preparing the building to burn.
Make-shift furniture made of bails of straw was placed inside and as couches and mattresses were ignited, firefighters rushed in to hone their skills.
A drone captured the burn in progress and fire crews said the training was valuable.
Ricks said he currently does not have plans to develop the land.
