Mitchell appeared before Judge Jason Walker via video conference from a maximum security facility.
None of Mitchell’s or Larson’s family or friends attended the arraignment.
The 18-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the killing of Deraek Patrick Larson of Idaho Falls on Sunday.
Mitchell was arrested at 2:45 a.m. Thursday and booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
His bond has been set at $500,000.
