1:34Now PlayingREXBURG -- STAND UP: I’m Natalia Hepworth in Idaho Falls, and I am squeezing my mango here with the Stasia Acrobats, an acrobatic troupe based right here in Eastern Idaho.
SOT: “We’re circus performers, we’re circus freaks,” says owner and coach Aric Nelson says.
SOT: “We do pyramids, we do aerial acts in the air we have all sorts of act types,” team captain Alyxandra Rhead says.
VO: On Feb. 6, Stasia Acrobats went to Los Angeles California for a preliminary tryout for NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Nelson said the group had been contacted in years past, but didn’t feel ready to step in that direction. This year, Stasia felt prepared for their moment to shine.
SOT: “For us being acrobats, there’s nothing else like us around, we needed to step into another world. So, going to audition for America’s Got Talent that’s going to help open the door, and get other people to know who we are,” Nelson said.
VO: Trying out for the popular T.V. show and national summer competition gave them a chance to show what talent Idaho has to offer.
SOT: “We got donations from so many different groups, and so many different people that it was just a great thing,” Nelson said. “Everything just started falling into place, like it was the right time to actually go an audition for it.”
VO: The troupe is still awaiting confirmation on if they made it to the actual show, but know they gave the performance their all.
SOT: “We hope that we did good enough. Even if we didn’t make it we’re going to continue doing what we do,” Team captain Alyxandra Rhead said.
