VO: Katherine Tyler didn’t know what to think when she saw her classmates at Hillcrest High School approaching her in pottery class with roses.
SOT: “At first I didn’t know what was going on,” Katherine said.
VO: Baseball star Kolten Westergard wanted to give Katherine the perfect “promposal.”
SOT: “I got a couple of my friends and asked if they would individually go and hand her a rose,” Kolten said.
VO: He had 12 friends place a roses on her desk followed by a donuts and a sign that read, “I DONUT want to go to prom without you.”
SOT: “We had classes together in middle school and she’s always been very sweet girl,” Kolten said. “I’ve always wanted to ask her. She’s just very nice and very sweet I love it.”
VO: Kolten said he has always wanted to ask Katherine,”
SOT: “Finally I don’t and I really wanted to take up the opportunity,” Kolten said.
VO: Katherine suffers from spina bifida, a birth defect that affects spinal cord development. Katherine's Mom says her daughter has had a rough year couldn’t she’s thrilled Katherine gets to go to prom.
SOT: “I about started crying, I just thought it was so sweet, and her reaction… She was just the cutest little thing,” Lori said.
VO: Now Katherine and Kolten are preparing for the big dance on April 30, a night guaranteed to be special and memorable for both.
SOT: “I am very excited. I’ve never been so nervous and excited for a prom,” Kolten said.
