5:27Now PlayingDonald Trump, Jr. retweeted a post from a conservative social media account that suggested the "Trump Baby" balloon should be flown over China to assert Trump's dominance. Junior said that "this is funny," even though that balloon was used to mock his father all over the globe before finding a home in a British museum. Junior had better be careful - his father was not a fan of that balloon and probably isn't too happy about that tweet, either. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

The Chinese spy balloon. You know, I was on vacation last week. I was really hoping I wasn't gonna have to talk about it at all, cuz it was shot down on Saturday. But apparently I have to talk about it because something interesting did happen on Friday. Donald Trump Jr. Retweeted a, uh, I, I, I'm assuming the guy is conservative, or at least conservative leaning, um, Twitter user by the name of, uh, I am Ricky Diaz sends out a tweet with photos of the Trump baby balloon that plagued Trump during his administration, followed him around the globe. Um, and he said, I am Ricky. Uh, uh, Diaz said, quote, honestly, if I were Trump, I'd be flying this beauty over Beijing by morning. Don't know exactly what that means, but apparently it did catch the attention of Donald Trump Jr. So Trump Jr. Sees the tweet, knows that that balloon gave his father so many problems during his administration. Junior retweets it by saying, not gonna lie. This is funny.
What's your dad think about that? Does he think it's funny? Did you ask him? Did you, did you send that tweet to your father and say, Hey Dad, Hey dad, look, I I retweeted a funny thing with that balloon that you hated, that they would occasionally post like right outside the, the White House while you were in there. Did you see that? Dad? Did you like it? Was it funny? Do you love me? Willing to bet Daddy's not gonna like that. He's probably gonna be angry. I, this is a guy who lost his cool over the weekend twice, once when Chris Christie said he couldn't beat Biden. Trump wanted a full meltdown about that. As I discussed earlier today. The second time was when it was revealed that, oh no, there were Chinese spy balloons that were flying over America during Donald Trump's tenure as president.
He lashed out at the media for that. So I don't think Trump wants to joke about any of this. Certainly not about that balloon that, by the way, is now in a British museum. And again, it followed Trump around the globe as he traveled to mock him as a giant crybaby. So first and foremost, I don't understand why this, I am Ricky Diaz guy would even post that. You know, I, I've, I've gone through his feed best I can tell. Like I said, he's at least right leaning, I think. Um, he doesn't make any claims one way or the other, but based on the content, it does seem to go more right than left. But like, if, if you're a pro-Trump guy, why would you even, why would you even post that Like that doesn't make any sense. But then Diaz apparently thought he had gained all this popularity. He sends out this tweet after the media picks up the story on Monday. He says, the media HuffPost, Yahoo News, et cetera, are actually trying to flip the humor shared by Donald J. Trump Jr. And I, in my viral tweet as a slight against his dad. What a frantically weak attempt to sway the public to hate cringe.
Um, let's get something straight here, hotshot, you didn't have a viral tweet. Donald Trump Jr. Had a viral retweet of you, but your original tweet as I'm looking at it, uh, right now has 166 likes, 104 retweets. That's, that's not viral. Meanwhile, the retweet from Donald Trump with his caption, of course, that got over 95,000 likes and over 9,500 retweets. So you're like, Trump and I had a viral tweet. Eh, you didn't have anything like, you didn't have a viral tweet, JR did. And let's also not forget your original tweets. Still technically doesn't make any sense. Like, how is that like Trump showing, showing China who's boss? Here's me as a giant man, baby crying. I don't, I don't know that you thought it through. I'm sure you're enjoying the retweet from Junior and the little media attention you're getting right now. Hopefully that helps out your social media.
I see you've already got a big following on TikTok 141,000, that's awesome. But maybe next time try to make your jokes make sense because it wouldn't make any sense for Donald Trump to fly the Trump baby blimp over China as a show of strength.
