These men are black. As you might have noticed, they are also very white. What happened, what’s going on, just, why? The short answer is that these guys from Poland decided to fight in one of the ugliest wars of all time for the sake of Haitian independence and were awarded with honorary blackness, but I think that raises more questions than it answers, so let’s see if we can find a little more context.
