8:29Now PlayingDuring the German invasion of the Netherlands in WW2 the Battle for Den Haag (Slag om de residentie) was the result of an ambitious German plan, drafted by Graf van Sponeck. Three airbases around Den Haag had to be captured: Ypenburg, Ockenburg and Valkenburg. The Battle of Ypenburg was a battle between German paratroopers (Fallschirmjäger) as well as flown in reinforcements against the Dutch defenders.
