San Martín received the title of “Protector of Peruvian Freedom”. San Martin was then asked to help liberate Ecuador and there he met with Simón Bolívar during the Conference of Guayaquil in July 1822. After this the The discussed the fate of Peru. Eventually Bolívar was to continue to fight against the Spanish Royalists in Peru. The Peruvian War of Independence would last till 1826.
