36:54Now PlayingUS Iran War: A major revelation in the escalating Iran conflict as U.S. President Donald Trump admits NATO allies are not willing to help protect the critical Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital oil routes.
Speaking alongside Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Washington, DC, Trump openly criticized NATO partners for refusing to step in, calling their stance a “very foolish mistake.” He added “Well, we don’t need too much help, and we don’t need any help, actually… everyone agrees with us, but they don’t want to help… we think it’s pretty shocking,” Trump said, highlighting a growing divide between the U.S. and its allies.
The remarks come amid a rapidly intensifying conflict. The U.S. and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28, triggering retaliation from Tehran against Israeli and American targets. The situation soon expanded, with Israel and Hezbollah exchanging cross-border strikes in Lebanon, raising fears of a wider regional war.
According to latest reports, over 1,400 people have been killed on the Iranian side, while the U.S. has acknowledged 13 military deaths and Israel up to 15 fatalities.
The crisis has also sent global oil prices soaring, as tensions mount around the Strait of Hormuz — a strategic chokepoint responsible for nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply. While Trump initially urged NATO to help secure the passage, he later claimed the U.S. “doesn’t need anybody” after allies reportedly declined involvement.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stark warning, stating the strait remains open to “friends and non-hostile countries,” but could be closed to enemies and their collaborators, escalating fears of global economic disruption.
As geopolitical tensions deepen, questions grow over NATO unity, U.S. leadership, and the risk of a broader Middle East conflict.
