Walking the ground of the lesserknown northern shoulder of the Battle of the Bulge, James Holland and Al Murray explore the bitter fighting around the Twin Villages of Krinkelt and Rocherath during the German Ardennes offensive of December 1944. WATCH THE NEXT EPISODE
At a crossroads outside the villages, Lieutenant Colonel William McKinley, nephew of U.S. President William McKinley, leads a composite unit of American infantry from the U.S. 2nd Infantry Division that manages to hold the line against the advancing armour of Hitler's 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend, delaying the German advance.
Meanwhile, in the Twin Villages of Krinkelt and Rocherath, soldiers of the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division fight bitter street battles against German tanks and panzergrenadiers. These delaying actions buy time for U.S. V Corps to reinforce the crucial high ground at Elsenborn Ridge.
