1.) Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was not present for oral arguments this week for the first time in her 25-years on the bench. The 85-year-old Ginsburg is recuperating after lung cancer surgery. The Justice will be able to vote on the cases by reviewing transcripts.
2.) Carbon dioxide emissions rose in the U.S. by 3.4 percent in 2018, the largest increase since 2010. A record number of coal-fired power plants closed in 2018, but most were replaced by natural gas, not “renewable” powered plants.
3.) President Trump is threatening to withhold FEMA funds from California because of what he calls poor forest management. At least 85 people died and more than 153,000 acres burned in the most destructive wildfire in the state’s history.
