Trump's Chaos

On tonight’s show, I’ll be discussing the Trump economy doing what Trump economies always seem to do: making life more expensive, while he tells us everything is going great. Grocery prices are now soaring faster than they have in nearly four years, with tomatoes up 39%, coffee up 18.5%, beef up nearly 15%, and fresh vegetables up more than 11% from a year ago. And a big part of this comes right back to Trump’s own decisions: tariffs, higher energy costs, the Iran war, and the diesel shock that hits every truck, every ship, every farmer, and eventually every grocery aisle in America.

I’ll also talk about Trump abroad and Trump at home -- praising Xi Jinping as a “great leader,” while more than 100 US ambassador posts sit empty and the Pentagon abruptly cancels troop deployments to Poland. At the same time, Americans are turning against Trump’s war with Iran, with a new Economist/YouGov poll showing 55% opposed and only 30% in support. And among independents, the political damage is getting ugly: a 32-point swing toward Democrats since 2022. That’s not a small shift. That’s voters looking at the chaos, the prices, the war, the corruption, and saying: enough.

And then there’s the corruption and absurdity file, which keeps getting thicker. The Trump administration is reportedly trying to jump-start his proposed triumphal arch by piggybacking on an unrelated White House contract, even though the site is National Park Service land across the river. Now we’re getting a Trump-friendly golf course renovation in DC too. Kash Patel is apparently gaming the FBI Ten Most Wanted list for headlines, while also enjoying a “VIP snorkel” session in Hawaii. The Trump Justice Department is dropping charges against billionaire Gautam Adani after a lawyer tied to Trump pitches a $10 billion investment deal. Paramount is reportedly eyeing Katie Miller for a podcast deal while its merger needs Trump approval, I'm sure there's no corruption there at all. And I’ll end with something an ethical conundrum: A restaurant server secretly recording diners with camera glasses for Instagram. Because apparently even dinner now comes with surveillance capitalism and a side of creepy.
