Trump’s Economy Is Cracking -- And Iran May Make It Worse

On tonight's show, I talk about Trump’s economy getting hit from every direction -- inflation “soaring” to 3.8%, gas prices spiking, oil prices jumping, and the possibility that gasoline could hit $5 a gallon if the Strait doesn’t reopen soon. And the absurd part is Trump’s still out there bragging about inflation, pretending it was 1.7% before he attacked Iran, when it was 2.4%, and now it’s 3.8%. So congratulations, I guess: prices are higher, people know it, and his economic approval is collapsing. Seventy percent disapprove of his handling of the economy, 73% say the economy is poor, and 77% say his policies have increased prices.

I’ll also get into how Iran is now colliding with Trump’s economic mess. Oil is up, gas is up, and suddenly this war he was never supposedly going to start is hitting Americans in the wallet. And of course, we have Don Jr.’s old tweet bragging that Trump was the guy who would keep us out of a “full-blown war with Iran.” Great timing, Junior. The question now is whether Trump is even thinking strategically about Iran, or whether he’s just trapped between a war he can’t explain and an economy he’s actively making worse.

Then there’s the ongoing corruption and incompetence parade. Trump’s White House ballroom project supposedly went from around $1 million to $13 million. The Reflecting Pool contractor he personally bragged about choosing is now someone he claims not to know after it was revealed that the project isn't going so well. The Wall Street Journal says Trump’s DOJ subpoenaed reporter records over a story about Pentagon warnings on Iran. Trump’s sons are linked to a company asking the Defense Department for another $400 million for a Kazakhstan mine. And Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s orbit is apparently selling access through sponsorship tiers tied to his reality show. It’s always the same scam: public office as a private business model.

I’ll also talk about Trump’s unraveling online meltdown -- 55 posts in three hours, accusing Obama, Clinton, Comey, Jack Smith, Dominion, and half the known universe of treason, sedition, coups, election fraud, and whatever else happened to be bouncing around his skull at 10:40 at night. This is not normal behavior from any president, let alone one managing a war, inflation, subpoenas targeting journalists, and foreign policy crises. But the press still treats this like “Trump being Trump,” instead of what it is: a man using the presidency to pursue revenge fantasies in real time, while his mental capacity diminishes in public view.

And finally, I’ll hit the bigger foreign policy picture: Trump floating Taiwan arms sales as something to discuss with Xi, Russia attacking US-linked companies in Ukraine while the White House stays basically silent, a new US-Ukraine defense-tech deal, and Trump’s “Golden Dome” missile-defense fantasy now carrying a possible $1.2 trillion price tag over 20 years.

So tonight is really about the same through-line: Trump promised strength, competence, lower prices, and peace. What we’re getting instead is inflation, chaos, corruption, authoritarian threats, and a president who seems far more interested in settling scores than governing the country.
