In this video we go through how Hungary developed under Ottoman rule, after the Hungarians had lost their independence at the Battle of Mohacs. The conflicts between Austria and the Ottomans over control of Hungary, the development of autonomy and regional identities in the parts of Renaissance Hungary that would in the future become Slovakia and Transylvania. How the Ottomans deepened the Hungarian agricultural economy, and how protestants established themselves in Hungary and set the foundations for becoming a prominent minority in Hungary. We also dive into the geopolitical developments that ultimately led to the downfall of the Ottomans in Hungary.
