The first Federal inmate in 17 years as executed today. Daniel Lee was convicted of a 1996 Arkansas triple murder. William Mueller, his wife, and her daughter were killed by Lee. The Supreme Court cleared the way for the execution in an overnight ruling. AG Barr ordered Federal executions to resume last year. The victim's family sued and wanted to stop Lee's execution. The victim's mother said that Lee should have been sentenced to life.
A Schenectady police officer placed a knee on a man's head. The chief stated the officer used his knee on the man "to maintain control." The man was accused of slashing a neighbor's tire and resisting arrest. Officer Brian Pommer was placed on desk duty after the incident. The Mayor ordered an internal investigation and calls for reform.
